SAMC  for minor injuries and accidents, and other urgent help
Always call us first unless it is a serious accident or real emergency. you may not need to go to A&E.

When you get through to Reception tell us at the start of the conversation that you have a minor injury or another urgent problem. Our doctors and nurses can deal with minor injuries between 08:00–18:30 (weekdays only).

• lacerations that need gluing or suturing (stitches)
• removal of 'foreign bodies'
• burns or scalds
• wound dressings
• assessment of limb injuries sprains etc and if X-ray needed we can refer straight to x-ray and bypass A&E

There are options at other times, or out of surgery hours you'll be redirected to GPs on call who are often better at dealing with your primary care problems.

Pharmacies

Pharmacists are fully qualified to advise on a range of ailments and concerns.
Many pharmacies in West Kent are taking part in the Pharmacy First Common Ailments Scheme which helps people who don’t usually have to pay for NHS prescriptions access medicines for common minor ailments, free of charge. Simply walk in to a pharmacy and ask for advice; you do not need to make an appointment.

To find a participating pharmacy search ‘Health Help Now Pharmacy First’ online or ask us which local pharmacies are offering this service. Pharmacy staff will be able to make a diagnosis and offer you advice and treatment. The pharmacist may decide that you need to see a doctor and refer you to your GP, without giving you any medicine.
